Food, resilience and retrofitting our suburbs
As part of Harvest Time, Local Food Connect in collaboration with Banyule City Council and Nillumbik Shire Council are joining forces to present this exciting event.
David Holmgren will present his highly engaging multi-media talk ‘Aussie Street’, a speculative eco-narrative, seen through the microcosm of four adjacent houses. RetroSuburbia: the downshifter’s guide to a resilient future shows how Australians can downshift and retrofit their homes, gardens, communities and, above all, themselves to be more self-organised, sustainable and resilient into an uncertain future. It promises a challenging but exciting mix of satisfying work, a more meaningful way of living and hope for the next generation.
David Holmgren is best known as the co-originator of the permaculture concept following the publication of “Permaculture One” in 1978. David is globally recognised as a leading ecological thinker, teacher, respected writer and thought-provoking speaker promoting permaculture lifestyle as a realistic, attractive and powerful alternative to dependent consumerism.
David’s talk will be followed by a discussion, networking and nibbles.

Unfortunately, I wont be able to attend this event. Will it be recorded for later viewing?
We hope so Nicole! If it is, we will post the audio/video of the event on our media page: https://retrosuburbia.com/media/
